  • News
  • Last weekend, the Confcommercio System Conference was held in Sardinia, an opportunity to discuss crucial issues affecting the future of businesses and the Italian business and economy.

Fr. Occhetta S.J., Secretary General of the Fratelli tutti Foundation, also spoke, along with Roberto Battiston, professor of experimental physics at the University of Trento, Massimo Chiriatti, chief technology & innovation officer of Lenovo Italia, and Maria Rosaria Taddeo, professor of digital ethics and defense technology at the Oxford Internet Institute, in the panel devoted to artificial intelligence. Moderating the meeting was Massimo Sideri, columnist for Corriere della Sera.

The talk by Fr. Occhetta S.J. analyzed 3 aspects of the panel topic:

    • anthropological which touches the dimension of time and induces reflection on the meaning and limits of life, relationships and death.
    • ethical which should be understood as the space between freedom and responsibility; these are not principles to be imposed, but the ability to discern in conscience to truly be who one is.
    • political: AI is also open source, offering tools to small and medium-sized businesses. Generative, pre-trained and transformative technologies are revolutionizing the industry.

The event was confirmed to be a moment of exchange and dialogue between territories, institutions and businesses.
